Lady Jays Soccer wraps up preseason

The Lady Jays soccer team held their final scrimmage of the 2009 season against Charleroi today. Final score was 2-1 in favor of Jeannette and 3-2 Jeannette in the shootout.

The team will open the regular season on the road against non-section Greensburg Salem this Saturday with a 2:00 start.

Photos from today's scrimmage can be seen here.

4:33?, Ah nothing to it!

When in doubt, go to where it all began:

A Leader Emerges

Nice little article in the Trib today about our Toddy, stepping up to the call. Kind of makes you proud of him. Check it out here.

Back To School

Midget League Results from Guyasuta

The Blue Jays suffered their first loss of the season to Guyasuta yesterday in a heart breaker that carried into overtime. Final Score 20-14.

The Eagles on the other hand claimed their first win of the season in a close game, 14-12.

The Hawks unfortunately continue that downward spiral being held scoreless to Guyasuta and losing by a final of 32-0.

Next weekend the teams will journey to Morningside for a 4:00 start.

Study your teams!!

If you are reading this then it probably means only one thing...time to kick off The "FINAL" Score game, along with the Jayhawks 2009 season.

Just like last season, the rules are the same:

Your objective is to predict the final score of the Jayhawk football games, or come as close as possible to it, without going over the actual final score for either team. Easy enough, right?

Please, only one guess per email address. More than one guess from a single email address will result in all entries, from that email address, being rejected.

You must enter a guess for both teams, even if you are guessing a 0 for any team. Please do not leave any areas on the submission form blank, unfortunately this will also lead to that submission being rejected. (You'd be surprised at the amount of times this happened last season.)

The game is also set up to resolve ties. All entries are time stamped at the time of submission. Therefor, the earlier time stamped submission would win the tie breaker. So it may be to your benefit to get your entry in as early as possible!

I know your saying right now, "Yeah, yeah, yeah Dave, we know the rules, lets get to the good stuff!, what are the prizes this season?"

Glad you ask my friends!! This season I teamed up with Subway. The lucky, (or skilled), winner each week, will receive a coupon for two (2) Subway Foot-Long Subs of their choice from the $5 Value Menu at the Harrison Ave. Subway here in Jeannette. Out of town winners will have to travel to Jeannette, or make arrangements to give coupons to local family members, sorry. I only have a couple t-shirts left and I'm probably gonna let the cheerleaders throw them into the stands, at the Brownsville home opener.

Tons of fun, and healthy eating! I do take care of you guys, don't I?

The "FINAL" Score game for the season opener Sept. 4 against East Allegheny, will begin tomorrow, Aug. 31. I'm hoping before or around noon. Other weekly games will begin on Sundays around noon and all games will be pulled from the site on Fridays, game day, also around noon. This will be done in this manner to accommodate my regular schedule, work, etc., so times will not be precise.

Our 2 Favorite Buckeyes

Congrats to both of you guys, and good luck!

Looking for a change?

As many of you know, or maybe you don't, I'm a complete sucker for Mexican food. It's true! So for me to tell you about a new place in town comes very easy to me. I'm talking about Chipotle Mexican Grill up on Rt. 30 here in Greensburg, across from Wal-Mart.

If your looking for a change in fast food restaurants, then Chipotle Mexican Grill is the place you need to be. All, and I mean all,the ingredients are made fresh everyday, (I've personally watched them do it). Your burrito is made right in front of you to your specifications, and the flavor just excels tremendously above that of your everyday burger.

So for something new and extremely delicious, give Chipotle Mexican Grill a visit, I guarantee you'll love it! Sean, the GM there is a good friend, so tell him the Jayhawks sent you!

Scrimmage delivers "better than expected" results

Jeannette Midget Football coaches were pleased with the outcome of Friday nights scrimmage against Norwin. "Our kids did way better than we expected of them", Blue Jays head coach Dan Peters told me.

Norwin plays in the Mon Valley Midget League, with a weight cutoff at 170lbs. Jeannette is part of the Keystone Bantam League, the KBL pulls the plug at 156lbs, a 14lb difference which can add up to problems real quick on the field.

"It's great that Norwin scrimmaged us, this is exactly what the kids needed", assistant coach Mike Deni said. Jeannette has never backed down due to a size difference and Friday night was no different.

More photos from the scrimmage can be seen here or by clicking on the photo above.

Uplifting Athletes

For those of you out there that may think Terrelle is just another "spoiled athlete", I'd like for you to read an article in the Columbus Dispatch.

A couple weeks ago Terrelle came home to play golf and help raise money for the new weight room, which I thought was very generous of him, giving up time in his preseason schedule at Ohio, to help out our needy cause.

That was nothing compared to this story in the Columbus Dispatch.

More on Uplifting Athletes can be found here.
