Friday's kick off is just around the corner, are you ready for it? Can you afford to put your body through that kind of heart pounding excitement, again?
Of course we can, don't be silly! We're from Jeannette,
Home of the 2007 PIAA State Champs!!!And that my friends, sounds...better...and...better...every...time...I...say...it!
Tomorrow, under the "ever so welcomed" lights of McKee Stadium, the Jayhawks will kick off the 2008 season, against East Allegheny and the only running back to gain over 100 yards against us in 2007, in what is predicted to be a very exciting season.
That's right, the only running back. Monte Ashby rushed for 1,763 yards and scored 19 TD's last season for the Wildcats, and that is something that the Hawks had better respect. But with the new addition of 6'-3", 230lb - Jake Wyant at the tackle position, I'd have to say the Hawks are respecting, loud and clear.
The Wildcats lost 20 seniors from last year including QB-Darrale Dunn and WR-Malik Washington. They finished the 2007 season with a 6-4 overall record (6-2 in conference) losing out in the first round of WPIAL playoffs to Steel Valley, 10-0.
Another stand out addition to the Jayhawks line-up this season is, #6 Brandon Hamilton. Brandon played in Duluth, Georgia last season for those Wildcats, a AAAAA team. At 5'-9" & 187lbs, Brandon brings the element of a power short yardage gainer yet quick and elusive enough to bust out the big run. Look for Brandon's speed to be a factor in the secondary as well.

Brandon's abilities, add to the already stacked backfield of the Hawks.
Returning starters of the 2007 Champs backfield are of course the ever so dangerous, Jordan Hall who has already busted 2 long TD runs out in the scrimmages this season, Mariell McGowan who has been absolutely explosive in camp, James Derry, Justin Kettren, Dane Vaughan, and Trent Errett all showing great improvements from last season's performance.
This is just a small sample of what to expect this season. I can't very well sit here and tell you everything, (well I could, but), you'll just have to see it for yourselves on Friday night. So get ready for another exciting Jayhawk season folks, cause all indicators are definitely pointing in that direction.
Lets Go Hawks!!!
